Drug My Soul

by Soda Cracker Jesus

/

about

Drug My Soul draws a line from such sixties pop luminaries as The Kinks and The Beatles, through 80's new wave pioneers like Robyn Hitchcock, Julian Cope and XTC, the people who infused that lush sound with the required post-punk energy and takes a position along contemporary power-pop stalwarts such as Anton Barbeau, The Stan Laurels and The Armoires.

lyrics

All my friends are just pretend
Nothing more than spreadsheets
All my friends won’t let me send
A different point of view
Stumbling down the rabbit hole
Chasing the feeling and all I want is more

Yeah Yeah
Drug My Soul
Yeah Yeah
Fill In the Hole
Drug My Soul
Drug Drug My Soul

Abstract theories are the crutch
Action keeps me grounded
My belief is not enough
Theories wasting time
I’m always right and your wrong
You have the truth and you let me tag along
Yeah Yeah
Drug My Soul
Yeah look at look at me yeah
Yeah Yeah
Drug My Soul
Yeah Yeah
Drug My Soul
Yeah look at look at me yeah
Yeah
Fill in the hole
Drug My Soul

Holding hand and smiling faces
Photographs of pretty places
In the end, it’s hard to hide
Who the real person is inside

kicker with psychedelic leanings. The iconic points of
reference are easy to draw, from a beefed-up Bowie or punked out Kinks to Beatles era psychedelia reminiscent of Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett years.
